Second Chances

Ever since I was a baby I have been a huge animal lover. It all started on a farm in the middle of nowhere. When I was two we moved to a small town into
a 100 year old brick house, which used to be the old church manse. All my life I had cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, and many other animals.

I feel the best cat we ever had was Pumpkin, an orange tabby. When I was thirteen, my friend and I found her in our back yard. She was in such rough shape. Her right ear was so badly frostbitten it was stuck down so she could not hear out of it. She was so hungry. She probably had not eaten for a long time, so I took her up to the house and gaveher food and water.

Shortly after she arrived, my mom discovered Pumpkin was pregnant. Pumpkin stayed. We kept feeding her and she became my friend. I became really taken with this fat orange cat.
One day we got a phone call
from our neighbours. They told us to come right over to their garage. When we got there Pumpkin was feeding seven tiny kittens. Wow, they were so small and cute.

We knew they could not stay their in the neighbour\rquote s garage so we took them to our attached shed. For weeks we help take care of them and watch them grow. They were all different colours. The only male was orange just like his mom. The smallest and the biggest one were grey and white, than their was a grey tabby with black, and two calicos. The one calico had six toes on her front feet just like her mom. I found it odd that only one of the kittens had that, but that made her more special.
I spent the whole time while they were growing up playing and bonding with them. I wanted them to be used to people so one day they would be great cats just like their mother. We took Pumpkin over to the vet to be spayed the vet found she was full of worms and said she might not survive the surgery. Luckily she pulled through nicely and we got the meds for the worms and also the ear mites that she had.

Once the kittens were old enough to be rehomed we made sure they would go to great homes for all of them did. It was sad seeing them leave, but I knew it was the right thing to do. Pumpkin became a wonderful, happy cat and my best friend, I know she wanted to show me love like I did for her.

Then, one fateful day, one of our neighbours from across the road came over asking for my mom. I told her she was out back. Soon after that, my mom came in and told me the awful news. Pumpkin had been killed. She had gotten hit by a car. The news just hit me. I spent most of the day crying for the loss of my pal knowing I would never be able to hold her again. It pained me. My mom thinks what probably happened to Pumpkin was the car came at her on her deaf side and she did not hear it coming. After that loss I learned that other animals out their also needed a second chances at life. I now spend my life helping and saving animals just like I did for my friend Pumpkin.

The Donkey story

A farmer owned a old donkey that had found that his mule had fallen into a well unable to get out the farmer decided the best thing to do was burned the poor thing alive in the well. So he toss dirt onto the donkey and found that the donkey would just shake it off of him. The farmer continued tossing dirt into the well onto the donkey and every time the donkey would stand up and shake off the dirt. No matter how painful and how tired the donkey got he never gave up after many times the dirt was high enough the donkey could get over the wells wall. True and amazing story way to go donkey!! :)

I will miss you Poppy

Poppy was a awesome horse still so young at the age of 13 she left us let me tell Poppy story. Reremembrance day my best friend brought home a 13 years old Standardbred Mare
this breed of horse is meant to race pulling sulkies. The person who had who before my friend said she only had a saddle on her once and never anyone riding on her back. So my friend got her off of him for free lucky her :) Than this really nice guy name Jack came over and would work with Poppy and her gelding Spirt to get them ready for riding. Spirt is a paint about 6 years old had not been ridden for least a year and the saddle he came with made him mean cause it was so loose on him it made him harder to work with and guys he had a lot of Spirt in him to he was just lazy to. I would go over to my friends place and we would watch Jack work with them coming along way. Poppy only having a saddle on once took it very well and weight on her  back to. She was a very well tempered horse a lot better than Spirt lol. Me and my friend wanted to get both ready for riding so we could go on trail rides like we always wanted and enter them in a small fun rodeo. My friend also told me that their was a chance I could have Poppy to ride and me kinda like my own horse which I just loved the idea of!! Sadly a week ago I got bad news over the phone from my friend she told me Poppy was gone she died in the barn from colic number one horse killer. I was so sad I took it harder than my friend did it was so disapointing here I was hoping we would have Poppy trained and she be awesome riding horse, but she left us to soon. Ill never forget that great horse she lives always in my memory and my hearts rest in peace my dear friend Poppy you will always be loved where ever u are.. The End.
